How to Organize 7 Days of Beaches in Cancun
If you have a full week in Cancun, you can explore the most representative beaches without repeating or rushing your itinerary. Here is our day-by-day suggestion:
- Day 1 — Playa Delfines: start your trip at Cancun's most iconic beach. Take your photo at the CANCUN sign, enjoy the surf, and begin to acclimate to paradise.
- Day 2 — Playa Langosta and Las Perlas: two family-friendly beaches with gentle waves on the north side of the hotel zone. Perfect for relaxing without a care.
- Day 3 — Playa Norte (Isla Mujeres): take the early ferry and dedicate the full day to what many consider the most beautiful beach in the Mexican Caribbean.
- Day 4 — Punta Nizuc: a day of snorkeling and underwater exploration. The natural reef and the MUSA Underwater Museum are one-of-a-kind experiences.
- Day 5 — Playa Forum and Tortugas: a day of activities and fun. Beach clubs, parasailing, jet skis, and nightlife for those seeking action.
- Day 6 — Isla Blanca: an excursion to the pristine paradise north of Cancun. Powdery sand, zero crowds, and the feeling of being at the edge of the world.
- Day 7 — Playa Juventud: close your trip like a local. Fresh seafood, cold beers, and the authentic atmosphere that only Cancun can offer.
Combine Beaches by Zone
To maximize your time and minimize travel between spots, group beaches by geographic zone:
- North Zone (Km 2-5): Las Perlas, Langosta, Linda, and Tortugas are all within a 3-kilometer stretch. You can visit two in the same day by walking between them.
- Central Zone (Km 8-10): Caracol, Gaviota Azul, Forum, and Chac Mool form the tourist heart. This is where the beach clubs, restaurants, and nightlife are.
- South Zone (Km 13-22): Marlin, Ballenas, San Miguelito, Delfines, and Punta Nizuc. The most spectacular beaches but with stronger waves. Best explored by car or bus.
- Beyond the hotel zone: Playa Juventud (Downtown), Playa del Nino (Puerto Juarez), Isla Blanca (45 min north), and Playa Norte (ferry to Isla Mujeres). They require more planning but offer unforgettable experiences.
Share Your List with Your Group
Once you have your favorite beaches selected, you can share the list via WhatsApp, copy a direct link, or download it as a text file. This is especially useful when traveling as a group and everyone needs to agree on the plan before leaving the hotel each morning. Simply click the "Share" button and choose your preferred method.
Our Favorite Combinations
If you are short on time, these 2-3 day combinations cover the best of each style:
- Romantic getaway (2 days): Day 1 at Playa Norte (Isla Mujeres) + Day 2 at Playa Ballenas for a private sunset.
- Family adventure (3 days): Day 1 at Langosta, Day 2 at Punta Nizuc (snorkeling), Day 3 at Playa del Nino with a seafood lunch in Puerto Juarez.
- Full party mode (2 days): Day 1 at Playa Tortugas (water sports) + Playa Forum (beach clubs). Day 2 at Gaviota Azul with brunch at the nearby shopping plazas.
- Pure nature (3 days): Day 1 at Isla Blanca, Day 2 at Punta Nizuc (reef), Day 3 at San Miguelito next to the Mayan ruins.
Tips to Maximize Your Time
- Use the R-1 or R-2 bus that runs the entire hotel zone for just 15 pesos (less than $1 USD). During peak hours (10 AM - 2 PM), a taxi or private transport may be faster.
- Arrive early at popular beaches — before 9:00 AM you can find the best palapas and free parking.
- Book the Isla Mujeres ferry in advance — in high season, tickets sell out, especially for the first morning ferry.
- Do not underestimate the distances — from Playa Las Perlas (Km 2) to Punta Nizuc (Km 22) is a 30-45 minute drive in normal traffic.
- Combine beach and culture — Playa San Miguelito is next to the Mayan archaeological zone, perfect for a morning of history and an afternoon of sun.
